What is it about Portuguese ceramics that the world needs to know? What is it that makes it unique? From our perspective, Portuguese ceramics foster a world of diversity. We champion an industry as versatile as the contradictory landscapes of our country. We value new approaches rooted in expression and possibility, because we nurture a world of infinite possibilities. From intimately hand-made to technology based, from conceptually driven to universally designed, from traditional to disruptive, from highly technical to artistic and romantic, our ceramic design goes well beyond our heritage to meet modern life’s needs with solutions that balance continuous contradictions: classic versus contemporary, established versus disruptive, luxury versus laid-back, cutting-edge excellency.
For this week of excelence in design, we intend to create an exhibition of innovative and authentic Portuguese ceramic pieces centered on the motto "Art of Possibility". We want to present what makes our products different from others, in a unique blend of heritage, culture and imagination - emphasized by will and passion. Pieces that emphasize simplicity, emotion and creativity, that bring together contemporary design and art, legacy and technology - these balanced dichotomies are at the heart of our ability to create unique, distinctive and well-made objects.
The perspective and central concept of the exhibition - Art of Possibility - stems from the idea that Portuguese ceramic companies are able to bring art to everyday life through utilitarian and decorative objects, made for everyday life. Based on this idea, this concept intend, above everything else, to elevate these products to the status of art objects, increasing the perceived value of the pieces.
In an open and dynamic layout, visitors will be able to get to know the best of Portuguese Ceramics design through a playful route made up of several podiums where, on each podium, there will be only one ceramic piece that represents the best of each portuguese ceramic companies and studios.
